Officially Down.

I'm officially down today.

Congested nose is such a discomfort - I feel like a fish outta water. But it's nice to be home with my two darling girls. My Cookie Monster keeps me entertained with her funny antics. As I write, she's sitting on my lap, sniffing at the keyboard. I think her tiny face is so tainted with my flu germs from the kisses rained on her. Queenie on the other hand, lives a sedated lifestyle. She hardly plays. She's contented relaxing near me. Sometimes I think it's kindda boring being pets - there's not much activities for them to indulge in.

Oh by the way, I dreamt of a bulldog and a beautifully marked cat. A neighbouring apartment block was on fire.

Fire
Depending on the context of your dream, to see fire in your dream can symbolizes destruction, passion, desire, illumination, transformation, enlightenment, or anger. It may suggest that something old is passing and something new is entering your life. Your thoughts and views are changing. In particular, if the fire is under control or contained in one area, it is a metaphor of your own internal fire and inner transformation. It also represents your drive and motivation.

To dream that a house is on fire, indicates that you need to undergo some transformation.

Dog
To see a dog in your dream, indicate a skill that you have ignored or forgotten, but needs to be activated. Alternatively, dogs may symbolize intuition, loyalty, generosity, protection, and fidelity. Your own values and intentions will enable you to go forward in the world and succeed.

Cat
For the cat lover, cats signifies an independent spirit, feminine sexuality, creativity, and power.

Poor Grandpa.

Grandpa was admitted for an emergency Cholecystectomy operation this afternoon. He was in the operation theatre from 4.30pm till about 9.00pm. Almost the entire "kampong" (about 25 of my relatives) were there. It was a rather exaggerating scene. I left office about 6.00pm and was at the hospital by about 7.15pm. It was great the op went well - everyone was jittery.

Got home about 10pm. Grandpa was still groggy and drifting in and out of consciousness when we left. I don't think he knew we were there. He must have succumbed to the excruciating pain - he refused to think he was in serious condition before this afternoon. Poor grandpa - I wonder how he managed to tolerate that intensely painful attacks for the last few months. He'll have to stay for a few more days I believe. Will be visiting him again though it is not a great idea I visit the hopsital while I'm building up my immunity from my pneumonia episode. But, he's my grandpa. :)

It's not nice to be unwell.

I hope he gets well soon.

I'm cleared!

Wee! Yay!

Just to share good news with you – I’m certified recovered from my bacteria pneumonia today. What an enormous relief!

The experience wasn't good. I had so much difficulty breathing. My nose was always congested. My heart pounded non-stop. I feel exhausted easily. Besides the awful feeling, it was an expensive treatment too. I must have spent close to a thousand bucks.

But then again, this experience also allows me to learn something - Health is important and, I know who cares for me.

PW called to ask me to join her for a horror movie - 4BIA. I'm onz!

You've been superpoked.

I went for my second blood test this afternoon. I hate to be drawn blood cos it makes me bruised and painful (due to my thin veins). Yikes!

But that aside, the good news is - my pulse rate seems to be back in the normal zone. But Dr. C still wants to me keep an inhaler with me at all times, just in case, especially so in the night. I hope the blood test results would be good. I will only know in a few days' time.

For now, my breathing feels smoother. I need not take any medications. I will drink the american wild ginseng tea Ironman bought me - must not let him down right? I will try to sleep earlier - KFP has been telling me. And I will try to exercise more - KO has been encouraging me. For a start, I will walk my doggies more. My ex-Netball team wants to reunite for a year-end league. I'm expected to play GD (Goal Defence). Man. I'm not really sure if I should. Dr. C feels that I should try to steady my pulse rate for a while before high impact exercises and consumption of caffeine.

I've been thinking about something and I think the deadline I'm giving myself is Xmas. It's either going to happen or it will never.

School of Rock & Blades of Glory

I saw the two DVDs KFP passed me over these two days - School of Rock and Blades of Glory, both which I didn't have the chance to watch when they were screened. Great films and the latter was really hilarious at some points! I prefer Jon Heder in brunette. I guess, generally, I prefer guys with dark coloured hair.

The clinic called me yesterday to inform my allergy test result is out. I will see Dr. C again next week to see what she has to say. I have finished my 5-day course of antibiotics. I'm feeling better already. I hope I have managed to rid the awful bacteria.

The Pneumonia Girl 2

My stomach feels weird... It feels like stomach flu. I'm not in pain of course. No spasms. Just weird. Wonder if it has anything to do with the bacteria. It's supposed to be self-limiting.

A flying cockroach appeared in my room of all times. It refused to leave despite me opening the windows wide. It kept hovering and my girls were so excited, especially Cookie. I had no choice. And I feel very very bad (I honestly do) for having to kill it but I made sure death was quick. It has been a long time since I had to do something like this and I really hate it.

Damn. All bad things come together, don't they? What about good things? Do they come together as well?

I hope the stomach flu bug will go away when I wake up tomorrow. Sigh.

Luckily the weather has been rather kind. I'm trying to resist airconditioning.

The Pneumonia Girl

I've been diagnosed to have contracted mild bacterial pneumonia. My blood test results on the whole was normal except for:

My resting ECG reading was generally normal as well, except for the high pulse rate at 96 bpm which may be caused by the bacterial infection.

Pneumonia sounded serious but surprisingly, I received the news rather calmly. Maybe because Dr. C kept stressing it was mild. On a scale of 10, she'd give mine a 3 or 4. This condition, I was told, is life-threatening if a person is under 3 or above 65 years of age. Chances are, the bacteria may have been present in the airconditioned environment, especially central airconditioning. Airborne bacteria are not exactly easy to avoid huh? And so, I have been prescribed the following:

Antioxidants 1 bot
Zithromax 2 boxes (5-day course of antibiotics)
Biogesic Tab 500mg 20 tab
Redoxon Vit C + Zinc Effervescent #

#I chose to buy this myself at the pharmacy because the clinic has only the orange flavour which I detest. Blackcurrant is nicer. The clinic nurse was really amused by my reason for "rejecting" when this was prescribed.

Meanwhile, I have to keep up with the existing prescription:

Singulair 10mg 10 tab
Seretide Accuhaler

Man. This must be one of the very rare times I have to take so much medication. But the worst should be that I'm not allowed to take cold drinks. ?!?!?! Oh well - better not complain. I should count myself lucky my condition's mild. I will have to visit Dr. C again in a month's time, that is, on 27 Aug for another blood test to ensure the bacteria is officially cleared. Eww.

I'm given 2 days of medical leave for tomorrow and Wed. I've extended that by another 2 days of annual leave so I only report back to work on Mon. Might as well rest and at the same time, take a break from work. It's nice not to listen to complaints for so many days.

Mr. KO has been religiously reminding me to take my medications. So thoughtful of him.

Ironman just text me: How's my Pneumonia Girl? Isn't he so sweet? :) He's no good himself - had a sprained neck I understand. How he got the sprain was kindda hilarious.

Earlier this year, PY had Bell's palsy. Then, mid year, JC's mum had some blood disorder. Last week, JC's personal assistant's mum passed away a week ago from a heart problem. MF, a primary school friend is recovering from bronchitis. KFP was coming down with flu the last I saw him. Wonder if he managed to stop it from coming full blown.

I'm hearing lots of health-related issues this year. I suppose, illnesses are part and parcel of aging. I suppose I will have to start exercising - this is going to be hard (I'm sure Mr. KO will be shaking his head). Hopefully, next year is going to be good for everyone.

You've been poked! (Not by Facebook)

I saw Dr. C again this morning and by afternoon - I had a resting ECG and blood tests for thyroid and allergy done. I've never had these done all my life until now.

The needle freaked me! I was told 10ml would be drawn. Eww.

Dr. C couldn't locate my blood vessels on my right arm from the first poke. Then came the second poke, found the vein but couldn't draw a single drop of blood. Man. So I was poked a third time on my left arm this time - finally. Ouch!

My AB+ blood looked really dark. But I find it a nice hue of red. Ha.

Was told ECG was normal though. But what concerns Dr. C is that my pulse rate was exceptionally or astonishingly high, at 96 per minute. We'll have to wait for my blood tests results now.

Dr. C has ruled out asthma and lung infection.

Was prescribed SINGULAIR 10MG 10 TAB to relieve symptoms of Allergic Rhinitis and also SERETIDE ACCUHALER to aid breathing when necessary.

My total damage: SGD410.00.

Now, I feel the pain in my heart.

Things will go my way?

My daily fortune says:

Things will soon go your way. Stay the course, keep looking for the good and things will go your way in the long run - even if they don't appear to be working out in the short run.
Things will soon go my way meh? I wish. Well. I'm not very convinced lor. Ok, I admit - I'm rather cynical. It takes a lot to convince me but once you succeed, you've got me on your side. :)

I wonder why I still have breathing difficulty. My nose feels blocked. I'm beginning to wonder if it's the bad ventilation in the office or I may have contracted asthma. I vaguely remembered having childhood asthma but that was accompanied by a persisting cough for months. But quick as I got that, I recovered as quickly after medication.

Incidentally, an ex-classmate I'm supposed to meet up tomorrow is recovering from bronchitis - she had persistent cough for 2 weeks. Ironman has bronchitis before. Is bronchitis so common? I don't have any cough though.

Thank you Mr. KO for your concern. What will I do without friends? :)

O2

I've been experiencing difficulty in breathing lately - maybe in the last week. I guess, it has happened enough for me to notice and I think, I should get myself to a doctor for evaluation.

From what I've researched on the knowledgeable internet - breathing difficulties can be described in several different ways - You may be short of breath, unable to take a deep breath, gasping for air, or feel like you are not getting enough air. My nose feels a little blocked. So far, no chest pain, no bluish lips, fingers or fingernails (and that's why I'm lacquer-free). I'm trying my best to be conscious of the symptoms.

It may just be due to an impending illness, emotional distress or it could be something more serious like heart disease (my late paternal grandma had this condition and died from this chronic condition). There are many more possibilities. I like to be prepared for the worst (strangely) so I told a colleague who is also a friend about this and joked that the pre-empt is in case I die suddenly. I hope I didn't scare her. The other person I told is a close friend. Not telling other friends does not mean they are not important - just that I don't want unnecessary attention and worrying. Of cos, if you are my regular fan (of this blog), well, you will be in the know (by now). =P

This year hasn't been easy for me, especially in the emotional department - mostly negative. A mixture of frustration, disappointment and stress I reckon. However, I'm very certain I'm mentally healthy (lol). I've been raving non-stop about needing a relaxing vacation and I honestly mean a solid good one. The negative energies simply need to be discharged. Writing is one of the ways I discharge feelings, whether good or bad. I find it helpful. I usually feel better after penning what's cooped inside. My two girls are priceless therapy - I always feel happy seeing them. Cuddling them is always comforting. Can't imagine life without them! Laughter helps too but unfortunately I'm not getting sufficient dosage.

At this point, I'm breathing normally again. :)
