The Pneumonia Girl

I've been diagnosed to have contracted mild bacterial pneumonia. My blood test results on the whole was normal except for:

My resting ECG reading was generally normal as well, except for the high pulse rate at 96 bpm which may be caused by the bacterial infection.

Pneumonia sounded serious but surprisingly, I received the news rather calmly. Maybe because Dr. C kept stressing it was mild. On a scale of 10, she'd give mine a 3 or 4. This condition, I was told, is life-threatening if a person is under 3 or above 65 years of age. Chances are, the bacteria may have been present in the airconditioned environment, especially central airconditioning. Airborne bacteria are not exactly easy to avoid huh? And so, I have been prescribed the following:

Antioxidants 1 bot
Zithromax 2 boxes (5-day course of antibiotics)
Biogesic Tab 500mg 20 tab
Redoxon Vit C + Zinc Effervescent #

#I chose to buy this myself at the pharmacy because the clinic has only the orange flavour which I detest. Blackcurrant is nicer. The clinic nurse was really amused by my reason for "rejecting" when this was prescribed.

Meanwhile, I have to keep up with the existing prescription:

Singulair 10mg 10 tab
Seretide Accuhaler

Man. This must be one of the very rare times I have to take so much medication. But the worst should be that I'm not allowed to take cold drinks. ?!?!?! Oh well - better not complain. I should count myself lucky my condition's mild. I will have to visit Dr. C again in a month's time, that is, on 27 Aug for another blood test to ensure the bacteria is officially cleared. Eww.

I'm given 2 days of medical leave for tomorrow and Wed. I've extended that by another 2 days of annual leave so I only report back to work on Mon. Might as well rest and at the same time, take a break from work. It's nice not to listen to complaints for so many days.

Mr. KO has been religiously reminding me to take my medications. So thoughtful of him.

Ironman just text me: How's my Pneumonia Girl? Isn't he so sweet? :) He's no good himself - had a sprained neck I understand. How he got the sprain was kindda hilarious.

Earlier this year, PY had Bell's palsy. Then, mid year, JC's mum had some blood disorder. Last week, JC's personal assistant's mum passed away a week ago from a heart problem. MF, a primary school friend is recovering from bronchitis. KFP was coming down with flu the last I saw him. Wonder if he managed to stop it from coming full blown.

I'm hearing lots of health-related issues this year. I suppose, illnesses are part and parcel of aging. I suppose I will have to start exercising - this is going to be hard (I'm sure Mr. KO will be shaking his head). Hopefully, next year is going to be good for everyone.
