Do we know how fortunate we are?

Angelina Jolie spoke about an unforgettably sad experience in Africa about a boy who had a gunshot wound... and was considered a non-emergency because there were so few hospital facilities... in the end, he died. A gunshot wound classified as non-emergency - imagine how dire the situation.

A lot of us have no idea how fortunate and blessed we are. I don't mean to offend anyone (honestly) but everytime I hear people complaining about how expensive the ERPs are, I'm kindda pissed because the fact that that someone has to pay ERP means that the person is privileged enough to own a luxurious item, a car! A car is not a necessity in my context when public transport is so available and considering Singapore is not that huge. One can't be forced at gunpoint to buy a car right? Come on, we have people who can't even afford one decent meal a day or the wounded who are denied of treatments. The psychology is really baffling.

The chinese has a saying for such people: 生在福中不知福。

I just wish that people would think a little before complaining.
